Caitlin and Jason Murphy
Married June 30, 2007

In the midst of wedding day activity and craziness, Caitlin Murphy, her bridesmaids, and her mother, gathered together for a moment.

“With all of them gathered around me, we all prayed for Jason’s and my marriage and new life together,” she says. “It was the first moment of the weekend that I was able to take a deep breath and really realized what the entire wedding day actually meant.”

Planning for the wedding began shortly after Jason proposed in Times Square during Labor Day weekend of 2006.

“It was during a torrential rainstorm, but it was still perfect! I said yes!”

The wedding had a Kentucky theme, including a UK groom’s cake. The reception was held at the Phoenix Room at Keeneland, overlooking the paddock.

Caitlin’s wedding advice comes down to one word: Planning. That included meeting with wedding vendors like Ivory Rose (for wedding flowers), Rickerson Photography, Sugar Forest (for the wedding cake), and Keeneland.

“My advice to other Kentucky brides would be to plan and get everything...big and small...finished early! You’d be surprised how quickly your wedding day comes, and you will want to spend the week before the wedding with friends and family, instead of finishing up last-minute details. But above all, don’t forget the reason for the wedding in the first place: the love between two people who get to spend their lives together.”
