Real Wedding Wednesday: Rory and Michael at the Celebration Hotel
I had the privilege of working with what I considered to be the “sparkliest” bride every. From the moment I walked into her room while she was getting ready until the moment she left the building, Rory sparkled. She kept a smile on her face in spite of the horrible rainstorm that loomed and eventually poured on her outdoor ceremony. Check out the beautiful photos below (from amagicmoment.com) and her great commentary.
Susan: What was the most memorable part of the wedding day for you?
Rory: I think it was the feeling I got when we stepped out onto the aisle runner, and I could see all of the things we’d talked about & planned all together in one place. It was wonderful seeing Michael smiling & waiting for me, I loved the music of the violinist, the arbor all decorated, all the family sititing there. It was so special. Also, I was floored with the presentation of our hotel room when we finally went back upstairs - it was so lovely & romantic.
Susan: What was the most memorable part of the wedding day for Michael?
Rory: Michael says it when I put the ring on his finger, but also he says our dinner was memorable to him because it was the first part of the day where we could finally be alone and that it was relaxing. He also says the whole things was nice, overall. He was especially impressed with the hospitality of the catering/hotel staff.
Susan: What did you think about the flowers?
Rory: I LOVED THEM. My calla lilies were beautiful, the arbor flowers that became table decorations were absolutely GORGEOUS. My mother-in-law & I kept remarking at how awesome they were. We were sad that we couldn’t spend more time with them!! We were able to give them to the few people who stayed in the Florida area. In fact, I think orange is my new favorite color!! Michael also says he thought they were beautiful, he loved how they looked on the arbor.
Susan:What were you most worried about?
Rory: Michael & I were both worried for awhile about the weather - first, was it going to be too hot & humid, then was it going to rain during the ceremony. Other than that, I was not really worried about anything. Except possibly fainting during the ceremony!
(Note to brides… Want to shock your wedding planner? While she is straightening your train just before you walk down the aisle, ask her for a chair and a bottle of water in case you faint during the ceremony because you have the tendency to do so when nervous.)
Susan: You mentioned to me about being nervous until you saw Michael at the arbor. Tell me about that.
Rory: Michael is my rock, my calming/stabilizing force. If he says something will be ok, then I will believe him. Seeing him standing there & realizing that we were about to get married, sort of crystallized for me that he will ALWAYS be there for me, bringing his calm & easy-going nature in to my life, every day, forever. I was suddenly able to breathe more easily. So I think all nervousness went away at that point.
Thank you, Rory and Michael for sharing your thoughts with me and for letting me be part of your wedding day. It was a wonderful experience and a great story to share with other brides!
