Real Wedding Wednesdays: Maureen and Stan at the Walt Disney World Swan

Today’s real wedding story is actually about a vow renewal that took place at the Walt Disney World Swan last month. The happy couple, Maureen and Stan, decided that they wanted to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary with a ceremony that really reflected their love for one another.

Maureen and Stan wanted to be sure to include elements in their vow renewal that they were unable to have for their wedding. Professional photographs, a DJ, and beautiful flowers and décor were among the most important items for their celebration.

With services provided by Ginger Midgett Photography, Maria Shafer Entertainment, and the floral designers at Petals by Design, this event exceeded all of the couple’s expectations. Here is what they had to say about their special day:

Susan: What was the most memorable part of the renewal ceremony day for you, Maureen?
Maureen: The most memorable moment to me was walking down the aisle to the song version I dreamed of and picked out and looking around at the family and friends and the surroundings and thinking nothing could have been better–in fact, past my expectations!

Susan: What was the most memorable part of the renewal ceremony day for Stan?
Maureen: Stan loved all the flowers, music, and (of course) he said me!

Susan: What were you most worried about?
Maureen: All of the timing of events working out.

Susan: What elements of your vow renewal ceremony day did you enjoy more than your wedding day?
Maureen: A planner to handle the worry. And the flowers were much better than our wedding. Really everything. I was so relaxed.

Susan: How did your ceremony coordinator help alleviate any fear or stress?
Maureen: Karen was in immediate contact with me via email. Any questions or situations were handled promptly.

Susan: What did you think about the flowers and décor [provided by Petals by Design]?
Maureen: The flowers were breathtaking!! I have had so many guests call me and tell me how beautiful the flowers turned out. The calls surprised me.

Susan: Is there anything you wish had happened differently?
Maureen: No, it was perfect.

Susan: Do you have anything else you want to share?
Maureen: The quote I want to say is, explore the options of Just Marry! for any budget. It’s well worth it!!!

FREE Wedding Planning Webinar with Susan Southerland

I know its late, but I just had to blog about the webinar this evening. We had a great group of ladies from Florida, Virginia, Missouri and Georgia. One bride is getting married in just six weeks!

One of our brides asked a fantastic question that I wanted to share with you. She said that she registered at a couple of department stores and that they gave her cards to enclose in her invitations so that guests would know where to find her registry. She felt uncomfortable doing that and asked if that was proper.

I am so glad she stopped to ask… It is definitely NOT proper to enclose bridal registry information in your wedding invitation. If someone is throwing you a shower, it is definitely okay for the registry information to be enclosed in the shower invitation. After all, the idea of a shower is to “shower” you with gifts. Other ways to get the word out is via your wedding website, or the old fashioned way… Word of mouth!

We have another webinar tomorrow evening at 8 p.m. eastern time. If you would like to join us,(we have a lot of fun, you can have your questions answered personally, you can interact with brides around the country, AND you get a free Perfect Wedding Guide Wedding Workbook) please send me an email at susan.southerland@pwg.com.

Perfect Wedding Guide Bridal Show Orlando: Hot Wedding Topics

Happy Tuesday everyone. What a weekend we had at the Rosen Center in Orlando. David’s Bridal did a huge fashion show. There were wonderful vendors in every category for brides to meet, and more than 150 brides showed up for the You’re Engaged, Now What? seminar.

What were the hot topics on the brides’ minds?

  • Brides are still looking for great vendors at great prices.
  • Many of them are using purple color schemes (this definitely agrees with what trendsetters predicted for 2010).
  • Quite a few discussed managing their guests list, as in, “I only want to have fifty people at my wedding, but my list keeps growing, what should I do?” (The Guest List Manager on PWG.com is a great tool for maintaining a good guest list. Check it out by clicking here!)
  • Many brides are planning on having someone else organize the wedding day… Not mom! Most of them said they would be looking to a friend to help them on the day of because they think that wedding coordinators are too expensive. I say, not so! Be sure to investigate the many wonderful coordinators in your area. Some might be quite affordable. Trust me, it will help you and your families enjoy your day.
