Hey Susan, I Renegotiated My Wedding Reception Contract: Some Comments

Happy Thursday!

Here is some feedback I received regarding being upfront about your budget and negotiating your contracts.

I always work with the client and their budgets……I encourage my brides to negotiate contracts, and look at what they realistically can afford. We all want bigger and better, but not always possible.

Angela Palacio, HYATT GRAND CYPRESS, Orlando, FL

Great message, Susan! I always encourage brides to be up front with me about their budget. It’s much easier to develop a stunning wedding package when the budget is discussed up front. Even if a bride thinks she has a small budget, it’s amazing how far the money can stretch. Plus, we, as vendors, are always ready and willing to work with all sorts of budgets – big and small.

My wedding is 11 1/2 months away, so I’m in the beginning stages of negotiations with vendors. The DJ that I am strongly considering was very considerate and shaved $300 off his usual price to accomodate me.

  • I agree, price is a big factor when it comes to wedding planning. When I planned my wedding two years ago I had I made sure that I focused on spending money on quality things rather than large quantities of things. Here’s a little site that showed me some good ideas on quality wedding decorations. Enjoy! and thanks for the post- fun to read!
