Honeymoon Mondays: Orlando, Florida

As it happens, I didn’t have to look very far this afternoon to identify an inspired honeymoon destination for this wedding blog post. Today’s featured location of Orlando, Florida is truly my own backyard.

Home to several incredibly popular theme parks, an abundance of shopping venues, and just minutes away from world-famous beaches, “The City Beautiful” is a force to be reckoned with in the honeymoon destination market.

Things to Do:

1. Play All Day. Nearly everyone associates Orlando with being the home of Walt Disney World and its many parks and offerings. But Orlando also boasts a plethora of similarly fun venues. Between renowned theme parks such as Universal Studios Orlando and Sea World Orlando, honeymooners could spend more than a week visiting theme parks alone! And many of the parks will present honeymooners with special treatment…if you mention it to the right person.

2. Surround Yourself With Beauty. As a decidedly romantic option, honeymooners can venture into downtown Orlando and stroll through beautiful Leu Gardens. Featuring more than 50 acres of southern-style gardens, this breathtaking location not only hosts honeymooners, but many weddings, too!

3. Discover Your Animal Side. Located in Sanford just 20 minutes outside of Orlando, the Central Florida Zoo is a fun and entertaining option for honeymooners. And for those couples interested in combining a theme park with a zoo, Orlando is also home to Discovery Cove (where you can swim with dolphins and other sea life) and Gatorland.

4. Rock On. Although Orlando is presently awaiting completion of its first major concert and entertainment complex, the city is home to several incredible intimate and mid-sized concert venues. Honeymooners can check out the House of Blues, Hard Rock Live, and Amway Arena, among many other options.

5. Fuel Your Inner-Sportsman. For couples interested in a more active honeymoon, check out one of Orlando’s many golf courses, try guided bass fishing in one of the local lakes, go rock climbing at Aiguille Rock Climbing Center, or head out thirty minutes to the coast and engage in sailing, surfing, or a multitude of other water sports. One thing is certain: when you honeymoon in Orlando, you will not be bored!
