Honeymoon Mondays: Fiji

With December marching on, I thought that readers out there in colder climates might really enjoy reading about the location I intend to feature in today’s wedding blog. The island nation of Fiji is an incredibly popular honeymoon destination. The main island is Viti Levu, but Fiji’s 320+ other islands and islets also have much to offer visitors.

With its rich history, exotic cuisine and diverse culture, Fiji is truly a unique honeymoon destination.

Things To Do:

1. Play in the water (or just relax by it). A multitude of water sport options such as sailing, yachting, snorkeling, scuba-diving, surfing and parasailing prove there is no end to the options in Fiji available for active honeymooners. For those couples whose idea of honeymooning involves quiet days sitting by the crystal blue water…there are plenty of wonderful spots for that, too!

2. Take a walk. With a network of marked trails such as the Lavena Coastal Walk or Vidawa Forest Walk and several gorgeous National Parks, Fiji is an excellent destination to experience nature. Stunning views of lush foliage and breathtaking waterfalls make this a remarkably romantic honeymoon activity.

3. Get up and dance. Fiji is well-known for its festive cultural dancing. Honeymooners should be sure to take in a meke (a traditional Fijian dance). Don’t forget your grass skirts and leis!

4. Visit some sites. The many islands of Fiji all boast some notable historic and cultural sites. From the Garden of the Sleeping Giant and the Sigatoka Sand Dunes to the Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple, Fiji’s islands contain places shrouded in mystery and romance. Perfect for honeymooners!
