Newly Engaged? Start Planning Your Wedding the Right Way

The winter holidays typically mean lots of engagements. I hope some of you are anticipating something sparkly under the Christmas Tree or by the menorah!

If you have been following my wedding blog for a while, you know that the very first thing I tell my couples to do is to plan a budget. I think we have all learned a valuable lesson about what spending to excess can do. Here are some tips to starting your budget plan the right way from the beginning.

  1. Prioritize Services: What is most important to you, your photos? your gown? your reception location? You must know which vendors are most important to you so that you know where you won’t make compromises.
  2. Research for going rates in your area. If you don’t have friends who can give you an idea of what things cost, check with your reception location or go to costofwedding.com
  3. Use the PWG budget calculator to track estimated versus actual expenditures

  4. Look at your budget frequently to review and update
  5. Remember the budget is constantly changing as contracts are finalized
