‘Tis the season to be shopping– and saving! Not just on gifts for the holidays, but there’s potential for wedding savings everywhere as well. With Christmas quickly approaching, now’s the time for major craft stores, clothing and home decor retailers alike to begin slashing prices on end-of-season merchandise.
How does that help you, the bride-to-be, you may be asking? There are lots of opportunities to snap up great deals on attire and decor if you’re getting married next year. Look past the kitschy, blatantly holiday themed items on clearance and you may find some great deals on things like:
- Clear, solid color vases for DIY centerpieces– recently found three shelves full of these large, gem-toned babies at a major craft store marked down 60% to less than $10 each
- Pomander balls of plain greenery for aisle decor or flower girls (again, adding your own embellishments would make an easy DIY project)
- Plain greenery garland to decorate a wedding ceremony arch or head table (you could customize them by adding your own flowers, ribbons, or other embellishments)
- Plain votive candle holders, hurricane lamps, and candelabras for reception table decor (not to mention the candles themselves)
- Shoes, evening bags, and cocktail jewelry– with the trend of bold wedding shoes and accessories carrying forward to 2011 wedding trends, why not snag a pair of fancy holiday heels at discount prices? You’re not likely to change shoe sizes before your wedding so they’re a safe way-ahead-of-time buy. Same goes for things like handbags, necklaces, brooches, and other jewelry
I hope you’ll use these tips to take advantage of end-of-season sales, not only this season, but in the months to come as well. When spring turns to summer, and summer to fall, look for deals on decorative items and accessories for your upcoming wedding again! One last tip: If you’re going to shop the sales, make sure you don’t hesitate– it only takes a few days for seasonal sale items to become picked over. Since you’ll likely be purchasing multiples of some items (such as candle holders or vases), make sure you get while the gettin’s good!
