Happy Sunday morning! Today’s wedding blog post is coming a couple of days late, but it’s better late than never, right? I hope that the anticipation has be building to see the wonderful photos from The Weekend Wedding Retreat.
The Weekend Wedding Retreat was a spectacular experience for both vendors and couples. I partnered with Angela Palacio from the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress here in Orlando. Our goal was to create a wedding-planning atmosphere that was relaxing, inspiring and romantic. I think that we achieved our goal!

The day started with early check-in and a light breakfast. Couples and vendors mingled and started to get to know each other.

After everyone arrived, we walked down to our general session room. We got to know each other better by sharing first date stories, engagement stories, worst date together stories and stories about one fantasy item that the couple wanted for their wedding, but didn’t think they could get. The stories were fabulous! We had some very romantic grooms in the group. The engagement stories ranged from traditional asking permission from the bride’s parents to a surprise proposal on the floor of the House of Representatives.

The stories were a tough act to follow, but we had to get started with planning some weddings! Brides took The Susan Southerland Secret quiz to determine their wedding-planning personality; Then we got down to the “business” of planning their weddings with a session on prioritizing, budgeting and organizing their wedding day.
After a short break, it was time for lunch. I, however, have to get ready for a wedding, so I will share the afternoon and evening sessions of The Weekend Wedding Retreat on this upcoming week’s wedding blog.
