We’re currently working on adding new dates and topics, so stay tuned for info to come early next week. In the meantime, check out some of the great reviews and feedback brides have shared with us about The Susan Southerland Secret Wedding Planning Webinar Series:

I just wanted to first say that Perfect Wedding Guide has helped me out tremendously in planning my wedding that’s taking place in 24 days! From the many bridal shows and seminars I attended to featuring the photographer I finally picked for my event, it has been a staple in my wedding planning. So I just wanted to thank you and Perfect Wedding Guide for that!
– Margaret M.

I participated in your Webinar yesterday, and I wanted to thank you for all your great advice and ideas. Planning a wedding can be a bit overwhelming, so I am sure your organization tips will help. Thank you again!

Real Wedding Wednesdays: Katie and Alex in Denver, Colorado

One of my all-time favorite places to visit is Denver, Colorado, and I’m very excited to feature an event that took place in this amazing city for today’s real wedding blog. This story was sent to me by photographer Kim Nodurft (http://www.kimnodurft.com/) out in Centennial, Colorado, and I have included some of her terrific images.

Here is what Kim wanted to share with all of us about the wedding of Katie and Alex:

“I did a backyard wedding last summer with Katie and Alex. They’re both models and extremely sweet. I really love this couple!

They were married in Katie’s mom’s backyard in Denver. They wanted a simple wedding on a budget.

Katie chose her blue dress because it looked fabulous on her. It’s the first marriage for both of them, but she didn’t want to do the traditional thing.

I think the photos show it doesn’t take a ton of money to pull off a gorgeous wedding. You just have to do it with style. Even though they were on a budget, they wanted killer images to remember their day.

One of the most important things to remember when doing a backyard wedding: make sure you have enough room for all of your guests to move around comfortably. And make sure the yard will be well-lit for photos.

And I can’t recommend highly enough that you hire a coordinator for a home wedding. Getting married in a home poses way more challenges than having it in a venue. Coordinators know how to set everything up so it flows, and it frees the bride, her mom, and girlfriends up to enjoy the day.”

I enjoyed Kim’s insights on having a wedding at a home rather than in a venue. What are your thoughts? Did you have a backyard wedding that you would like to share? I would love to hear from you!

Bridal Registry: Fun With a Gun…

…A scanning gun that is.

For those of you who are regular readers of my wedding blog, you know that I am getting married. Well, my fiance and I finally did our bridal registry. We had a blast! There are some fantastic products out there, some not very expensive, that I think should be on everyone’s list. Here are some items that we chose.

istock_000012298084xsmall.jpg
A good set of knives. Now, according to my mom, you only need two; a small paring knife and one to chop. I also use one that slices bread and I like my steak knives. A couple of additional knives you may want to consider: an electric one for slicing meat, and a grapefruit knife (I like nice grapefruit sections).

A citrus juicer. I confess, I didn’t even put this on my registry, I bought it myself. We have been trying to prepare healthier meals. Lemon, lime and orange juice are a big part of those recipes. This type of juicer makes it so easy!

Attractive, inexpensive flatware for everyday use. I suggest finding something of good quality because you will use it everyday, but when a spoon accidently gets crushed in the garbage disposal, you don’t want to have to break the bank to replace it.

Some other items that I think you will use daily include: Salt and pepper shakers, pots and pans, everyday dishes (ones you can toss right in the dishwasher), cutting boards, can opener, coffee maker (My single-cup coffe maker changed my life! I love popping in the cartridge and pressing start), food processor and toaster.

There are more items than I can include in today’s wedding blog, so check out the articles on PerfectWeddingGuide.com for some more great ideas.

Oh, I have one more suggestion when it comes to doing your registry… wear comfortable shoes! We looked around so much that my feet were KILLING me when I was done. (They were really cute shoes though.)
