Honeymoon Mondays: Western Mediterranean Cruise

By Perfect Wedding Guide ‘National Wedding Expert’, Susan Southerland

I find it difficult each week to narrow down my honeymoon blog destinations to just one; it has occurred to me that I don’t necessarily have to– and neither do you! Over the next few weeks on the wedding blog, I’m going to be taking a look at some different cruise options that will hopefully introduce you to some ports of call beyond the “typical” Caribbean honeymoon hot-spots. We’re cruising all the way to Europe, starting with the Western Mediterranean! Today’s five night ‘cruise itinerary’ is just a sample of the almost endless number of options available through major cruise lines.

Departs: Malaga, Spain

Take a four-hour guided bike tour of Malaga that will hit all of the shopping, dining, and historical points of interest, including the Plaza de Toros (bull-fighting ring, pictured below) located in the city’s center.

Port-of-call: Palma de Mallorca, Spain

Don’t miss the hour-long ride from the quaint city streets, through the olive trees of the countryside, to the mountains on the Soller Railway.

Port-of-call: Ajaccio, Corsica

Enjoy the splendid views of the turquoise waters in the bays of Corsica! This area offers a unique cuisine that has been described as a French-Italian hybrid.

Port-of-call: Provence (Toulon), France

There’s something to delight all of the senses in Provence, most notably their famous fields of lavender, which is grown commercially for the fragrant oil.

Destination: Barcelona, Spain

Find the best view of Barcelona City in the world-famous Park Guell (designed by artist Antonio Gaudi), which is filled with stone statues covered in intricate tile work.

Do you have suggestions of things to do on a Western Mediterranean Cruise that I didn’t include in today’s wedding blog? What about another honeymoon destination that you would recommend sharing? I would love to hear from you with input on your preferred destination, and photos are definitely encouraged!
