Wedding Whoops! Part One: What would YOU do?

By Perfect Wedding Guide ‘National Wedding Expert’, Susan Southerland

Hello and happy wedding planning to all of our wedding blog readers! As any wedding professional knows, things don’t always go according to even the best laid plans. Today I’m sharing a Wedding Whoops! story that was submitted by fellow wedding planner, Melanie Stancampiano, about a hiccup that almost caused her entire bridal party to attend the wrong wedding! I’d love to hear your feedback about what you think happened in this situation and how you would react; check back on Thursday to find out what really went wrong and who saved the day.

The scenario (as told by Melanie): “In the cold month of December, the bridal party was awaiting the arrival of their limousine at the Westin Lombard. I had my wedding assistant wait with the bridal party, with the instruction to make sure they all loaded in, and on time. After I was done with my final check of the ballroom, I arrived by the front desk. My bridal party had left and they were on time. As I was walking out to my car, to get to the ceremony location, I ran into another limousine. The driver asked me if I knew of the wedding party he was looking for. You can imagine my astonishment that the limousine that was hired for the wedding had arrived, but my bridal party had been ‘kidnapped’ with my assistant!”

We’ll stop right there to ask– What would YOU do? I look forward to your creative (and often humorous) responses. Don’t forget to check back on Thursday, when we’ll be posting our favorite reader responses and the conclusion of this Wedding Whoops!

Wedding Ideas: Vintage Wedding Ideas

By Wedding Blog Contributor, Margaret McDermott

Want the right beauty look for your vintage inspired wedding but don’t know where to begin? Well you have come to the right wedding blog! Here are some wedding ideas to help you achieve the vintage glam look for your big day!

Makeup: The reoccurring theme when it comes to vintage glam makeup is soft eyes, dramatic eyelashes, and bold lips! A classic smokey eye of browns and creams is a great way to have your eyes looking soft, yet glamorous! Black eyeliner and mascara will be your best friends when it comes to making those doe eyes pop. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, sport some false eyelashes! Soft, glowing cheeks can be accomplished by using a peach colored blush and nothing says vintage glam better than red lipstick!

Hair: You can have a lot of fun when it comes to your hair and its accessories! If you choose to wear your hair down, polished wavy tresses are an option. Having your hair out not part of your vision? You can opt for a slicked back, finger waved chignon that you can dress up with pearl pins or a feathered hair piece on the side. Pin curls can also give your hairstyle a vintage feel! No matter how you wear your hair, the classic vintage accessory – the birdcage veil – can be incorporated.

Jewelry: When it comes to your wedding jewelry, look for pieces that are classic and timeless. Pearl drop earrings or crystal chandeliers can add glam to your vintage look. You can go for a simple pearl necklace for a subdued look or take your style up a notch with a multi-strand version. Whichever type of jewelry you choose, always make sure that it stays in line with the dress your wearing!

Honeymoon Mondays: Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon

By Perfect Wedding Guide ‘National Wedding Expert,’ Susan Southerland

Happy Monday, brides-to-be! We often feature wedding blog readers who submit their questions, photos, and real wedding stories. Today’s Honeymoon Monday submission comes to us from Michelle and Chuck, a couple who are bound for a five-day stay in Las Vegas, NV next week! They are definitely budget-conscious, but as you’ll see from their itinerary, they have managed to plan an affordable and action-packed honeymoon that they won’t soon forget! Read on for a peek at their plans, and be sure to check back for photos and a full report of their adventure!

Where they’re staying: “We thoroughly searched online for hotel deals, and while there are cheaper hotels available, we felt that The Wynn offered the best bang for our buck! We took into consideration where the hotel is located on the strip, so that we wouldn’t incur extra transportation costs to get back and forth. We will be within walking distance of many of the major hotels, casinos, and attractions in Las Vegas.” -Michelle

What they’re doing:“Besides sightseeing on the strip and spending a little time at a poker table or two, we have one special ‘evening at the circus’ planned. It’s not what you think– we are dining at Le Cirque, followed by taking in a performance of Cirque du Soleil’s KÀ. Le Cirque is a AAA Five-Diamond rated restaurant at the Bellagio, and can be quite pricey, but we saved money by booking our reservation during their 5:30-6:30pm Pre-Theater Menu. We’ll be spending about $68 per person, instead of $98 per person, while still enjoying a fine dining experience.” -Chuck

The big splurge:“Because we’re from the east coast and don’t make it west of the Mississippi very often, we decided to splurge on a day trip to see the Grand Canyon. Because our time in Las Vegas is limited, we opted to fly instead of driving or taking a bus. We wanted to spend as much time as possible at the Grand Canyon, and as little time as possible getting there and back from Las Vegas. The flight path will take us over Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam, before landing at the canyon’s South Rim. From there, we’ll take a bus tour through the national park which will include many photo opportunities of the breath taking views. We are so excited!” -Michelle

I’m excited too, Michelle and Chuck, to see what your upcoming wedding and honeymoon have in store for you! We can’t wait to see your photos and hear your honeymoon in Las Vegas highlights! To be continued…
