Wedding Ideas: Splurge Vs. Save for Your Wedding

By Perfect Wedding Guide ‘National Wedding Expert’, Susan Southerland

I have been inundated with requests for wedding ideas, especially in the area of ideas for saving money on the wedding. If you follow the wedding blog with any regularity, you know that I strongly believe that a spectacular wedding isn’t related to what you spend, or the amount of stuff that you have, it has everything to do with the personal touches that you add to the day and the memories that you create with your loved ones.

It is with that in mind that I started doing “Splurge vs. Save” segments on various news shows across the country. A few of weeks ago, I was very fortunate to team up with Margaret Howard (see photo above) with Soiree Decor & Event Planning (www.asoireeaffair.com) in Jacksonville, Florida. She helped me put together a wonderful segment that aired on Fox 30 Jacksonville and Action News Jax, and she did it in just a couple of days! If you are looking for a planner in the Jacksonville area, you should give her a call!

Thank you to David James, Publisher of Perfect Wedding Guide in Jacksonville for introducing me to Margaret and the following wonderful vendors who provided us with the wonderful set displays: United Rent-All (www.unitedra.com/), Melia’s Bridal Shop & Tuxedo Rental (www.meliasbridal.com), Lovely Paperie by Meli
(www.lovelypaperiebymeli.com) and Edgewood Bakery (www.edgewoodbakery.com). Check out their websites. They all do great work!

Below are a few photos as well as the actual segment. I hope it gives you some inspiration on how you might be able to save some money on your wedding.

Can you tell which items are the splurge? Watch the video below to find out!

Did you guess correctly? If not, that’s a good thing! If it is hard to tell what’s expensive versus what is reasonably priced, it proves that you can save money on your wedding without making things look cheap. My advice, pick out a few splurge items and a few save items… that will help you stay within your budget.
