The Internet is filled with creative wedding ideas. As much as I would like to hope that you wonderful readers could get every bit of wedding inspiration right here on the wedding blog, I recognize that you might have to venture elsewhere to get a different point of view when it comes to creative ideas for your wedding. Fortunately, Project Management Training has come up with a list of the “Top 50 Wedding Planner Blogs” (http://www.projectmanagementtraining.net/top-50-wedding-planner-blogs). Our blog has the privilege of being listed as number one!
One of my dear colleague’s blogs also made the list. She was kind enough to give me a brief interview of her planning philosophy and her favorite things. Meet Lisa Konecny of E-Events and the “In My Shoes” Blog (http://e-eventsdesign.blogspot.com/).

Susan: Where do you find inspiration for your clients?
Lisa: I actually peek my neck out of the wedding vernacular when looking for inspiration for my clients. After some in depth questions about them as a couple and as individuals regarding their style, priorities and sensibilities, I often research what is “happening” in the world of fashion, interior design and leisure/travel. It’s often ahead of the curve and I find my clients can actually identify with “everyday” inspirations more swiftly than “wedding trends.”
Susan: If you had to give a bride one piece of advice for the planning process, what would it be?
Lisa: I realize it’s easier said than done, but don’t put the cart before the horse. Plan and work in logical order with the expertise of your planner and enjoy the ride. The engagement & planning should be just as enjoyable as the wedding day.
Susan: If you had to give a bride once piece of advice for the wedding day, what would it be?
Lisa: Her wedding day should not be about gimmicks or trends, it should be all about the experience and emotion.
Susan: What is your favorite money-saving tip?
Lisa: I would suggest a modest and more intimate guest list. The less mouths to feed, the more money you have to spend elsewhere!
Susan: What is your favorite thing to splurge on and why?
Lisa: Are you seriously asking just one?! I like to splurge on extraordinary lighting and furniture for distinct, stylish environments within the wedding.
Susan: What is your favorite thing to blog about?
Lisa: I actually like to blog about “the story.” I love to re-tell the wedding day from behind the scenes, which is such a unique perspective and the overall impression of the day. I also now do many video posts that highlight the day within a few minutes. No other medium draws such favorable impressions on grandma’s tears of joy, the father of the bride’s pride, etc. Exceptional video is vital nowadays!
Susan: If a bride were going to go read your blog, what would she learn?
Lisa: I’d like to think that a bride reading my blog would learn how style can be replicated using her own values and priorities and that there are no “themes.” Amazing floral, lighting, music and flowers are worthless if it doesn’t “make sense” to and work syn-chronically with the experience.
Be sure to check out Lisa’s blog and all of the other wonderful blogs in the “Top 50.” Of course, I don’t want you to forget to come back here. We are planning all kinds of new and inspiring things for the wedding blog in 2011. As we finalize our editorial calendar, we want to hear from you. What would you like to read about?
