Today’s real wedding story comes from a couple who were inspired by the combination of their cultures with a dash of “supper club” cool. Groom, Travis, shares the details of his wedding day to his lovely bride, Erin. They had such an elaborate affair — two events, in fact– that we’ll be breaking their story into two parts, one which showcases the elegant and romantic details of their California wedding, and a future blog detailing a second ceremony in Japan, so stay tuned for that! Our thanks to VCS Photography for these stunning images.
“Our wedding took place on May 2, 2009 at the St. Regis Resort and Spa in Dana Point, CA. The day was filled with tearful declarations, loving moments, and heartfelt laughs. It truly was the happiest day of our lives and I would do anything to go back and do it all over again and again and again! I still can’t believe it went by so quickly! We thank our parents, family, and friends for their love and support. We will treasure the memory of our wedding always and know in our hearts that the day we became husband and wife was the perfect beginning to the rest of our lives.”
On reading aloud their personal vows, Travis said, “I must admit that was the most surreal moment in my life as the world was perfectly still and completely quiet. We then exchanged rings, but not before I prematurely tried to grab the ring from [officiant] Wade —twice— and he once again called me the most eager and overexcited groom he had met! We rang our wedding bell as is Irish tradition and were finally pronounced “husband and wifeâ€! The sun began to shine through the light layer of clouds as we walked back down the aisle, beginning our journey as a married couple.”
“The reception was everything we had ever hoped for! After all the planning meetings, conference calls, emails, and discussions that we had had with our wedding coordinator and event designer over the past two years, once we stepped into the ballroom we immediately saw how everything came together. The room was stunning – lined with white drapes, filled with black round tables decorated with gorgeous centerpieces filled with beautiful red and white flowers and white ostrich plume feathers, with stage tiers surrounding a black and white dance floor with a 22-piece band playing jazz classics all night and classic rock favorites to finish the party off!”
