Dedicated Post: Creative Post-Wedding Uses for your Wedding Flowers

Here on the wedding blog, the question often comes up, “What should you do with your bouquet and other flowers after the wedding?” Floral preservation has been a way for brides to cherish their beautiful flowers long after the “I Dos” have been said. But not everyone has the budget for the service.

So we spoke to floral preservationist Ellen Bowman on the subject. Ellen has been preserving wedding flowers for over 20 years, and she certainly knows her stuff. In her books, Get More From Your Wedding Flower Budget and Preserve Your Own Bridal Bouquet in Six Easy Steps, she shows brides how to dry and preserve bouquets, church, reception and cake flowers, and use them to make lovely and unique thank-you gifts, home decorations.

“In this economy, too many brides think they can’t afford to preserve their bouquet and their wedding flowers. So sadly, they end up discarding these memorable, meaningful…expensive flowers,” she says. Here she’s shared with us a number of unique (and in-expensive) ways to breathe life back into your wedding flowers!

Here, we share with you a few exemples of Ellen’s work, and ideas to get you going with DIY floral preservation!
