Hello again, from your favorite world-traveling, destination wedding field reporter! Ok, that’s totally a title I just bestowed upon myself. It is not the official position described on my business cards, unfortunately.
However, I am lucky enough to occasionally wear the hat of a destination wedding blogger and I’m thrilled to share the low-down on the dreamy, destination wedding offerings of one of my favorite Caribbean travel locales: the Riviera Maya, Mexico!
On this trip, I visited the lovely IBEROSTAR ParaÃso Maya, an all-inclusive resort specializing in Mexico destination weddings. They have recently updated and upgraded their intimate wedding options, providing couples from all over the world an unforgettable experience as they unite in the company of their closest family and friends.
When planning a destination wedding, it’s equally as important to consider the appeal and accessibility to your guests as it is to you. By inviting guests, you’re asking them to use precious vacation time and go to the effort (not to mention expense) of traveling for your wedding. For this reason, I will share a little bit about what the IBEROSTAR ParaÃso Maya has to offer everyone on your guest list, and then –of course– spill a few wedding-specific details just for you.
Located on either side of the IBEROSTAR ParaÃso Maya are the IBEROSTAR ParaÃso Lindo (a family-friendly all-inclusive resort) and the IBEROSTAR Grand Hotel ParaÃso (a premium, adults only all-inclusive resort). I was a guest of the IBEROSTAR ParaÃso Maya, so most of my commentary pertains to that location, but all three resorts offer gorgeous wedding locations and superior attention to detail in all aspects of your planning!
Although this all-inclusive resort property is absolutely HUGE, I found it to be well organized and easy to navigate. The walks to and from the pools, dining areas, and beach were very pleasant, as the landscaping is gorgeous and there were surprises around every corner– usually in the form of wildlife! We saw peacocks, coatimundi (or ‘coati’ for short, a local relative of the raccoon) everywhere, and flamingos at the adjacent IBEROSTAR ParaÃso Lindo resort.
The Junior Suite in which I stayed was very spacious, perfect for hosting your destination wedding guests, particularly those with children who would appreciate the extra elbow room. The ladies will be as pleased with the garden spa tubs and waffle-knit robes as the fellas are with the ice-cold cervezas in the mini-fridge.
I cracked my balcony door to let in the sea breeze and the faint sound of music coming from the pool area. Not. Too. Shabby.
Just outside my door and downstairs was a concierge station, so assistance was never far away. This is very helpful at a large resort, so that for minor issues, general information, help connecting to the internet, or special requests, you’re not required to hike back to the front desk. More time to enjoy your stay!
Other entertainment for you and your guests include live music and shows, an on-property shopping center, as well as tennis, kayaking, snorkeling, volleyball, windsurfing, diving school, an 18-hole golf course, day spa, and more (most of which are included, some of which are an additional charge– be sure to check out their website for details).
My personal favorite finds were of the casual dining variety (it’s often the little things that thrill me), pictured below. You can’t go wrong with cheese and chorizo tacos followed by hand-made berry crêpes and hazelnut ice cream!
The Service & Delightful Details
My experience with the IBEROSTAR wedding planning team truly impressed me. They had great energy and excitement when sharing information about their program, listened patiently when our tour group had questions, and offered creative suggestions and provided thorough answers in response.
From cigar rolling (the cigar roller was preparing favors for a wedding that night), to in-room delights (who doesn’t love a towel creature), and off-property entertainment (we took a stroll through nearby Playa del Carmen one evening), there are definitely some unique and unforgettable details that the IBEROSTAR staff is more than happy to help you arrange for your wedding!
By the way, I spied several gorgeous modern-tropical flower arrangements around the resort, so you know they have excellent floral designers on tap. I never cease to find wedding inspiration– I swear it follows me around!
I was invited to tour several ceremony sites that were set for ceremonies taking place later in the day. The beachfront ceremony below was set at the IBEROSTAR Grand Hotel ParaÃso, which (if you ask me) is the best of both worlds. You get to wear your most fabulous heels walking down the aisle (since it’s on a paved terrace), but you’re still getting married on the beach with the waves crashing in the background! Nobody likes sand in their stilettos.
And there you have it– certainly not all that there is to know, but all that I have to share!
The best way to find out more about IBEROSTAR destination weddings in Mexico is to visit their website. Whether you’re planning a romantic Riviera Maya vow renewal for two, an intimate Caribbean ceremony and reception for close family and friends, or the Mexican destination wedding of your wildest dreams– start by reaching out to the IBEROSTAR planning team today.
It would be nearly impossible to provide every detail here, but I hope this blog has given you a little bit of insight into destination wedding planning and Star Weddings by IBEROSTAR in Riviera Maya, Mexico!
