4 Alternative Bridesmaid Dress Ideas

You’ve selected your dress, picked the wedding colors and have asked your best girls to stand beside you. Now it’s time to get them dressed for your big day.

Similar to wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses are abundant in lengths, styles, colors and materials. Keeping in line with our previous post for long vs short wedding dresses, we are going to show you some alternative ideas for your bridesmaids.

Two-Piece Looks
Instead of going with the traditional long dress, consider letting your bridesmaids wear a two-piece – and we’re not talking about a bathing suit. We love the idea of mixing a sweater with a pleated metallic skirt, or a crewneck t-shirt with a sequined pencil skirt. You can create any type of look with a two piece outfit.

Mixed Prints
Don’t limit your bridesmaids to one specific pattern, let them mix and match with their favorite colors. Consider picking a maxi dress that comes in different prints and let your girls pick their favorites. As long as all the dresses share one mutual color, it will look great!

Sequins Everywhere!
As a lover of all things sparkly, I am a big fan of bridesmaid dresses that shine. If you are having a formal wedding, this look will be perfect. Have your girls purchase gold or silver floor length sequin gowns. You can even mix it up by letting them pick the different dresses in the different metals (gold, silver and rose).

Mismatched
What’s great about this concept is that you can pick one general color for your girls to focus on. When you decide on your color, make sure you let the ladies know whether it is okay to go darker or lighter with the hue or if they can implement a print with it. Going with the mismatch theme will allow your bridesmaids to select a dress that they will ACTUALLY wear again.
