About Susan

Welcome to my Wedding Planning blog. My name is Susan Southerland and I have been a wedding planner for more than 16 years. Weddings today are often loaded with stress and pressure to overspend, over impress and be over-the-top. Brides are bombarded with images of wildly expensive weddings and with messages insisting that they host the event of the decade. The goal of my wedding blog is to help couples and their families create beautiful, unique weddings that reflect their personality and style and create an atmosphere of warmth and celebration – regardless of budget or income level.

My wedding blog features tips on everything from bridal wear and bridesmaids to wedding workshops and vendors. In addition, each week I post pictures of real weddings with great ideas on color themes, wedding dresses, overcoming challenges and more.

With the number of wedding blogs out there on the internet it’s easy to get caught up in all the extravagant wedding pictures and ideas. With my wedding blog I hope to express to all the brides out there that it’s not a competition. The most important thing to remember when planning your wedding is to be true to yourself. You may not have the most expensive flowers or a 20-tier cake, but if everything suits your personality it will truly be the perfect wedding.

You can read more about my credentials and see some of my work at my company website www.justmarry.com. You can also view a demo of my new DVD “Susan Southerland’s Just Marry! Wedding Planning Secrets” by going to www.justmarrydvd.com.

I hope you enjoy my wedding blog. Make sure to give me feedback! I would love to hear your thoughts.

Hey Susan, How are you? Hope all is well

I saw your name in one of the pages in the guiide book. I thought maybe you could help me if possible. I am interested in one of the dresses in the "Perfect Wedding Guide SPR 2008, pg 16a" I thought that there was a listing on where I can find that dress. Unfortunatly there isn't an address. I was hoping that you knew which designer design it, and maybe where I could find it. And if it's impossible for you to find it that's also fine, thanks in advance Susan

      Thanks so much
      Cynthia

      Dear Susan,

My name is Megan DeZabala and I am a student journalist at Boston University. I am writing a story about destination weddings and I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions. I found your blog online and see that you are a highly experienced wedding planner and I would love to talk to you about your experiences. I am sure you are very busy but I will not take up too much of your time. I can be reached via email at the address above but if phone works better for you just send me an email with a number where I can reach you and a good time to call. Your input would be greatly appreciated! I look forward to hearing from you!

      Sincerely,
      Megan DeZabala
    • Hi Susan,

Great site and great tips! I think your site is a great resource. Perhaps because of today's troubling times, some of your readers might be thinking that there's no way they can have a beautiful wedding without spending too much. A destination wedding may be the answer - contrary to popular belief, a destination wedding can cost as little as $8,000 dollars for 50 people (compared to the nationwide average of $30,0000).

Thanks again and keep up the site!

      Best,

      Maria
