Entertaining Children at Your Wedding
Children don’t have to be a distraction at a wedding celebration. Over the years I have done many activities for kids from something as simple as crayons and coloring books on the table to a full kids party with entertainment in the room next door. Here are some fun activities you can provide for the kids attending your wedding.
If the kids are staying in the main reception room:
- Give them disposable cameras and let them play photographer.
- Scatter kid-friendly songs throughout the reception so they can dance to familiar music.
- Give older children jobs to do like attending the guest book or passing out favors
- Give them custom gift bags with age appropriate activity books, snacks and action figures so they can entertain themselves.
- Have a sundae station. Kids and adults love creating their own deserts
If the kids will have their own playroom (this must be attended by a qualified adult):
The important thing to keep in mind when entertaining children is that they need variety. Don’t assume that if you provide them with one activity that they will be content for a four-hour reception.
