Claire Pettibone‘s fall 2012 collection brings thoughts of a garden or vineyard wedding. The dresses are a little bit bohemian mixed with heirloom-inspired accents like gold-embroidered tulle, scalloped lace, and jacquard fabric details—a look that Pettibone describes as vintage couture. She used retro silhouettes like dropped waist sheaths and flowing silk mermaids; and lots of deep V-necks and cap sleeves. We love her trademark sheer backs, as well as her new use of illusion long sleeves with lace cuffs. She also played with color with ivory gowns featuring lace with the slightest hints of powder blue and pale pink.
Bridal Market: Oscar de la Renta Spring 2013 {Recap}
Master couturier Oscar de la Renta not only presented a stunning red finale gown in his spring 2013 collection, but also a few bridal blue dresses so beautiful they’ll make even the most traditional bride reconsider wearing white on her big day. Over 30 lust-worthy dresses came down the runway, including a guipure lace column gown with a tiered tulle cape and a Chantilly lace and silk organza ruffle sweetheart gown. The fabrics de la Renta uses are so luxurious they don’t need embellishments, but the sequin, pearl and lace-trim embroideries and flower appliqués are exquisite. Most of the gowns were accessorized by silver-and-crystal headbands, and all of the models wore baby blue nail polish from de la Renta’s new upcoming Essential Luxuries Collection cosmetics line—which by the way will be available via Facebook in June.
Bridal Market: Marchesa Spring 2013
Marchesa is known for creating dreamy bridal splendor that girlie brides swoon over, but their spring 2013 collection might be their best collection yet. The designers, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, blend high fashion with eclectic aesthetics in their gowns. Sparkly embellishments, full tulle skirts, and flattering silhouettes make up this glamorous collection inspired by Marchesa’s own signature and most popular designs from past seasons. The presentation was magical with dresses like an off-shoulder tulle column gown with an embroidered bodice, an appliquéd one-shoulder gown with a dropped full skirt, and a crepe back satin column gown with an embroidered illusion bodice and tulle overlay.
