NYC Bridal Market: Priscilla of Boston

By Wedding Blog Contributor, Ivette Manners

The Priscilla of Boston 2012 spring collection was shown at a sleek Chelsea loft boasting spectacular views of the Hudson River. The collection included all five of the Priscilla of Boston bridal group’s labels: Melissa Sweet, Priscilla of Boston, Platinum for Priscilla of Boston, Jewel by Priscilla of Boston, and Vineyard Collection.

Inspiration for the dresses was the princess bride—from the American presidential daughter to a true royal—as interpreted by each individual brand, such as the classic elegance and sophistication of Grace Kelly by Priscilla of Boston and the modern-day girly princess by Jewel. There were flower, lace, and ribbon details—all trademarks of the labels; as well as trendy surprises like the short sheath with tiers of ostrich feathers.

NYC Bridal Market: Amsale

The Amsale spring 2012 show began with her bridesmaid dress collection featuring fashion-forward designs like an asymmetrical ruffled one-shoulder gown in rhubarb pink, a chic asymmetrical one-shoulder jersey gown, and a trendy cowl neck halter dress.

The wedding gowns stuck to her signature sleek architectural aesthetic, softened with details like bows and beading. The gowns were created out of regal fabrics like silk mikado and faille, as well as taffeta and organza. Hidden pockets are happily still popular, but the best trend was seeing more dresses designed in shapes and fits that flatter and call attention to the feminine body.

NYC Bridal Market: Kenneth Pool

Kenneth Pool is the Amsale Design Group’s label for brides who like a bit of drama in her dress, so that she can revel in the spotlight on her big day; and the 2012 spring collection delivered. Crystal beading accented glamorous tulle and taffeta ball gowns, satin A-line dresses, and organza trumpeted gowns. Various necklines were shown from sweetheart and V-neck to a crumb catcher and sheer illusion straps.

There were so many looks to fall in love with, but the finale strapless tulle ball gown with pickup skirt and a shredded tulle capelet completely stole the show.
