From Puppy Love to Senior Prom: The Real Wedding of Tiffani & Philip

We all love a good ‘high school sweethearts’ story with a happy ending, but this lovely couple actually started out as grade school sweethearts! Our thanks to the talented Ginger Midgett for the photos (www.gingermidgett.com) and to Tiffani and Philip for sharing their real wedding story.

Susan: How did you and your spouse meet?
Tiffani: We met when we had class together in 3rd grade. We “dated” in third and fourth grades and then we broke up. We officially got back together senior year of high school when Philip made good on his third grade promise to take me to prom.

Susan: Why did you choose your particular wedding location?
Tiffani: We choose to get married at the Swan because it just made sense for us to get married at Disney World and this was our best option. We wanted our wedding to be more than just the combining of him and I, but also a blending of our two families. It just made sense for us to go to a place that had such deep, personal meaning to us.

Susan: What was it like for you on the morning of your wedding?
Tiffani: The morning of the wedding I was very calm. I’m not sure that it had sunk in yet that I would really be getting married that day. I was just enjoying the morning and getting all pretty.

Susan: What were your thoughts as you walked down the aisle?
Tiffani: When my wedding coordinator told me it was time to start down the aisle I panicked at first. I started saying that I wasn’t ready and started to walk backward. Both my parents were with me and calmed me down. Once we started walking down the aisle all I could think about was the future I was walking toward. I was so full of love for the man I could see as I walked down the aisle.

Susan: What was the most memorable part of the day for you and your spouse?
Tiffani: The most memorable part of the day was getting to share it with our families. We had a small, personal, family only wedding. We loved getting to experience something as huge as a wedding with the people who love us and support us the most.

Susan: What was your biggest fear about the wedding day?
Tiffani: My biggest fear about the wedding day was not really knowing how the wedding was going to go. I didn’t have a rehearsal so I was really worried that I was going to do the wrong thing or fall or something silly like that. Luckily that didn’t happen but my dad did step on the train of my dress as we walked down the aisle!

Susan: Were there any particular elements of your wedding day that you considered unique or personal touches?
Tiffani: At the wedding we had our personalized bride and grooms ears present. They then were used in several pictures after the wedding.

Susan: Based off of your experience, would you share some advice for other brides and grooms who may still be planning their weddings?
Tiffani: I would say to just relax and have fun. A wedding is something to have fun with and to enjoy. Add personal touches that make it special and remember that the most important thing is what is happening between the bride and groom. If you both are happy and having fun, everyone else at the wedding will be too!

Many thanks to Tiffani and Philip for sharing their story with us — my team greatly enjoyed working with them on their special day! Do you have a real wedding story you would like to share? If so, please email me 8 or more of your favorite wedding or vow renewal photos along with details about your experience. You might be the next bride featured on our wedding blog!

Bridal Beauty Timeline

When it comes to making wedding plans, keep in mind that there are some personal preparations that shouldn’t be left until the last minute. I’m talking about your bridal beauty regimen: hair, makeup, nails, skin care, and more. We all want to look our best on the big day, so I’ve put together a schedule for a few health and beauty treatments you may be considering.

1. Months in Advance: Hair and Makeup Appointments

I suggest scheduling a “trial run” of hair and makeup prior to the wedding day. The time frame to schedule a run-through depends on what type of stylist you are using. If you are using a hair and makeup artist at a hotel spa, I suggest waiting until about two months prior to the wedding; that way it is more likely that the person with whom you do the run-through will still be employed at the spa when your wedding day comes around. If you use someone with whom you have a personal relationship, do it shortly after choosing the gown and head piece. That way if you want to grow out your hair, you have the time to do so.

2. Week(s) in Advance: Waxing and Facial Appointments

If it’s your first experience with waxing, the best thing to do would be to book an initial appointment about a month prior to the wedding. This will give your skin time to heal if you should encounter any irritation or sensitivity. Then book a second appointment two to three days prior to the wedding, particularly for any facial waxing, to freshen up your look, but still allowing time for any redness or swelling to dissipate.

Pre-wedding skincare is important, to look and feel confident on your big day. In addition to staying hydrated and keeping your skin clean and moisturized, you may want to incorporate a facial or two into your pre-wedding skincare regimen. Schedule your facial the week before, but be sure to communicate with your esthetician and let her know about the upcoming wedding.

If you’re planning to schedule any treatments with more permanent results (such as dental whitening, Botox injections, dermal fillers, laser hair removal, or chemical peels), be sure to meet with a qualified service provider well in advance of your wedding date for a consultation. While these procedures may yield positive and lasting results, it’s best not to leave them until the last minute, as they may require some healing time in order to produce the full desired result.

3. Days in Advance: Manicure and Pedicure Appointments

I suggest doing all nail appointments one to two days before the wedding, so that the polish is dry and completely hardened for the wedding day, but your nails still look fresh and chip-free. Keep in mind, if you’re going for a natural look on your wedding day, don’t forget to take your vitamins to help with strong, healthy nails!

One last tip– don’t let the guys off the hook, brides! Remember, their hair, skin, and even nails (closeup shots of the rings) will be photographed just as much as yours, so don’t hesitate to pamper them as well!

Tomorrow, we have a really cool giveaway to announce, so be sure to check back here!
