Kate Middleton's younger sister Pippa must have been feeling like she was playing second fiddle to her sister all throughout Kate's engagement, but when the big day came, Pippa got plenty of attention herself. In fact, her form-fitting ivory bridesmaid dress is so popular that some designers predict knock-offs of it might outsell designs inspired by Kate's wedding gown.
"Designed by Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton, like Kate's dress, Pippa's dress deserves a few qualifiers that are rare for a bridesmaid's dress, such as pretty, not dumpy, elegant, and even chic," says New York Magazine.
It's no surprise that designers who paid close attention to the royal wedding planning to knock off Kate's dress were so inspired by Pippa's beautiful gown that they decided to adapt it, too. After all, Pippa received lots of good press and new fans for the dress' modest yet sexy look - and who could deny that the girl looked absolutely fabulous and fit, especially from the back?
Conventional wisdom holds that bridesmaid's dresses are unattractive, but Pippa proved that just because you're not the bride doesn't mean you can't look your best. And while some might accuse Pippa's show-stopping dress of stealing attention away from Kate, we say - Kate's going to be the queen of England one day. Let's just call this one even.
