While all women adore their own wedding dress, there is a certain one out there that needs saving - Scarlett O'Hara's!
According to BBC News, The Harry Ransom Center, which is located in Austin, Texas, needs to raise $30,000 to save the wedding dress worn by Vivien Leigh in the epic film, as well as four other unforgettable frocks.
"These dresses have been under a lot of stress. Film costumes weren't meant to last, they are only meant to last through the duration of filming," said Jill Morena, the center's collection assistant for costumes and personal effects.
Scarlett O'Hara's dress in the film was made from copper-tinted French satin silk. The gown also featured magnificent flower detail and large, elaborate sleeves.
Women who are currently
planning a wedding and are looking for ways to preserve
elegant wedding dresses have many options. According to the Newlyweds section of About.com, wedding gown preservation can cost anywhere between $100 and $500, and will prevent a dress from becoming stained or turning yellow.
