Many ladies are looking for a bargain when it comes to finding the perfect wedding dress, but how far would you go to save a few bucks? Some young women have decided to construct their wedding gowns out of toilet paper - and the results aren't half-bad.
Every spring, Cheap Chic Weddings hosts a contest to find the most cost-savvy bride who can construct her own wedding dress out of nothing but two-ply. It may not be straight out of a fairy tale, but it turns out that frugal women all over the world are actually finding ways to make their toilet paper creations quite beautiful - and even wearable. And if you weren't totally sold, the $1,000 prize for the winning gown sweetens the pot a little bit.
So how are these ladies constructing wedding gowns out of toilet paper, with just glue and thread?
"I've seen someone use only four rolls for their dress and another contestant use 40," Cheap Chic Weddings co-founder Susan Bain told AOL News. "It really varies depending on the design and thickness of the dress. Some people really pack the toilet paper on, and others prefer using less toilet paper and reinforcing the pieces with a lot of glue or tape. Everyone has a different strategy."
Don't worry - if you're not interested in a two-ply wedding, there are plenty of other ways to have your dream nuptials on the cheap. In fact, famous big-bargain superstar Costco is piloting a bridal boutique, where the gowns are made out of actual fabric.
