We met Maria and her company at one of the bridal shows and the deal she offered seemed amazing (almost too good to be true, now that I look back). We set up a time to meet in Feb of 2015, I viewed the facility, we did a tasting, picked a menu, and put down a deposit for a wedding to be held in June 2016. I heard very little from Maria after that but it didn't really bother me because for the most part we had nothing to talk about. However, when my husband and I finally decided on a photographer in September of 2015, I went to the Events by Mon Amis Facebook page to get the venue address and discovered that the venue we had booked and paid for was CLOSED way back in May 2015 due to a pending legal battle because (from my understanding of the conversation I had with Maria) they were currently involved in a court case involving the unauthorized use of the facility as a wedding venue. I immediately contacted Maria and asked her about the venue and what would happen. She explained the court case and that she promised that they would win the legal battle but that they did just lease a new location and we could use that one if we wanted. I told her I was upset with her that she did not contact me way back when our original venue was first closed and that I had to find out from Facebook. Was she ever planning on telling me? What would have happened had I not noticed until it was too late? At this point I did not feel I could trust Maria and her company so I politely told her that we would be ending our contract with her and asked her to return the deposit minus what the tasting cost. She agreed and stated that she would immediately send us a check. One week went by and we received no check so I contacted her again. She apologized and gave multiple excuses, which I cannot validate if they were legitimate or not, but at this point I think it would be important for her to find someone else to start handing out refunds if she had other things going on. It took two more phone calls and five more e-mails (the final e-mail threatening legal action if she continued to avoid us) and after that last e-mail she rushed our check to us, about three weeks after our initial contact. We were extremely disappointed with this experience as the food we had tasted had been quite delicious and Maria had been very communicative when we first signed our contract. But after this whole fiasco I cannot and will not recommend this company to anyone, whether it be for catering or as a venue. Their utter lack of professionalism about alerting their clients to the closure of their venue and possible relocation is inexcusable and shows a complete lack of disrespect for their client's time, energy, and money, especially in relation to such a special day as a wedding.
