We love lots of true photojournalistic candids. “Photojournalism” is truly blending in, being unobtrusive, while still capturing the emotions and moments that are happening spontaneously. You are not aware of the camera at all. This means sometimes having eyes in the back of our heads, being at the right place at the right time, anticipating what may happen. It means following our hearts, seeing and taking images that mean something and really show true emotion. It means taking what feels and looks good to us in the camera. It sometimes means action and reaction and it always means reality more than fantasy. This is real. This also includes a lot of details, all the little things that you spent so much time, effort and money on and are so important. This is where having two actual photographers is so important; capturing the images from different angles or locations and viewpoints, helping to capture more of the emotion and all that is going on.
We like to mix these styles with my own in-between style, one that is fun, relaxed, romantic and much less structured. We are not posing you to the Nth degree, but not totally hiding in the bushes, either. You are still aware that we are there. This type of photography is sometimes called stylized journalism. Little prompts such as, “look at each other”, “hug in” or “snuggle” are sometimes all it takes to bring out the best in you and your more natural reactions, your more sincere expressions. You are still meant to be yourselves. These may be breathtaking overviews or “environmentals” that show off the location your have chosen or the scenery around you. It may be closer romantic scenes in which you look like you are having a private moment away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the day. This is your “snuggle” time which should be fun and romantic.
Photography is not just what we do – it is what we are.
