The Washington Historic Courthouse in Stillwater, MN is a gorgeous place for a wedding. We had approx 100 people with the wedding ceremony outside (the weather held out) and the reception inside with plenty of room for a good-sized dance floor without having to move tables. So much character to this venue with great picture opportunities! You can bring in your own caterer, alcohol, DJ, flowers, etc which is great, especially if you don't have a huge budget. The staff was very helpful with tips on how to do things.

The Stillwater Historic Courthouse is an absolutely beautiful venue and perfect for you're ceremony and reception. My husband is a history buff and we both fell in love with it right away as The Place. There are so many rooms, a jail to tour, the grounds are gorgeous and the staircases inside are all perfect for photo opportunities and guests to admire. The team was so nice to work with and had quick responses to all of our questions and concerns. They made the process very easy, set up our tables for the reception and gave us all the information we needed in a timely manner. The only downside we had, was that the security officer (which it's probably a different one all the time) was rude and not at all easy going, we felt like we were getting kicked out even though we rented the place till 1 am. Overall it was a great experience and we're not going to let that deter us for giving it a good review.

My husband and I rented the courthouse for our October wedding this year. It was perfect for us, as I am a history loving attorney, and my husband is a history loving politics buff. When we saw the courthouse, we knew it was the perfect place for us to get married. Everyone we worked with, from when we booked the venue to the end of our day, was fantastic. They helped with every detail- from the set up, to helping get us organized for walking down the aisle... literally everything we could imagine. The week of the wedding, I spent a couple hours, probably, on the phone with people putting together our seating chart and figuring out the best sports for tables and chairs. These people are so extremely helpful, caring and nice! I got comments from my close family members telling me how friendly the staff at the courthouse was. I will give ONE downside, and literally it is the one. You are required to hire a security guard for the evening. When they tell you this, they make it seem as though he will not interfere with the evening at all. However, he was very unpleasant and rude at our event. Now, I will not say that our wedding was calm, but it was certainly not unruly or out of control by any means. However, around 11:00, the security guard let my husband know that we would need to stop serving alcohol because guests were getting out of control. He was not nice or calm about it, either... and made sort of a scene. It certainly didn't ruin our wedding, but our night ended much differently than I would have envisioned. I would just keep this in mind. Other than the security guard, everything at the courthouse is fantastic!

We could not have picked a better place! The views are breathtaking! The staff is extremely helpful and do everything in their power to make your special day perfect! There are SOOO many awesome spots for pictures! We had the ENTIRE courthouse to ourselves for the ENTIRE day! Our ceremony was outside at 3:00 and then from 3:45 - 5:30 guests got to tour the courthouse, including the jail and exhibit. We also had yard games outside for the children! At 5:30 we had dinner upstairs and then music and dancing until 11:00! It was a perfect day!

At first we weren't sure about this place but when we saw it we both came alive. As we toured the place ideas came about how we could make our wedding unique and creative. We fell in love with the place. The manager was flexible in working with us to ensure that the tour this historic building open for our guests to explore during our social hour provided a unique wedding experience! I can not wait to get them back, photo ops in the jail cell with the bridal party and throughout the building and the beautiful grounds....eek! I can NOT wait to get a peek at them! Only a few more weeks until I get them back!

It's a beautiful building with beautiful grounds, and we loved that we could hold our ceremony and reception at the same venue. We hardly needed to do any decoration since the building speaks for itself! They also provide tables and chairs, and set them up for you the night before which was awesome. The thing that appealed to us first about the courthouse was that they have very few rules regarding caterers and beverage providers. They made it easy and painless. Great job and thank you.
