One of my favorite roles as a rabbi is performing weddings. I enjoy getting to know people who have come to me to be married, whether or not they are both Jewish, and helping them to create a beautiful experience for themselves and their families. Today so many Jewish people marry a person of another faith that I believe it’s my duty to perform weddings of interfaith couples in order to help them connect to Judaism at this wonderful moment in their lives.
I’ve performed many weddings. Each was unique because every couple is unique. I believe that the wedding is about you and your love for each other. I’m very flexible because it’s your ceremony! I believe in meeting people “where they are” and balancing what will work for them and their families with Jewish tradition. I also want to acknowledge and honor the family traditions of non-Jewish partners as much as possible.
Couples and their families, of all faiths, tell me consistently that my ceremony was a beautiful and meaningful part of their special day.
