Are you planning your dream wedding? Great! Then you surely want to tell your loved ones when you’re getting married and send out invitations. The stationery topic can be a rather confusing one, but Perfect Wedding Guide is here to help. If you have never dealt with it before, you will quickly realize that it is no longer “just” an invitation. There are far more components to wedding stationery such as a Save the Date, matching program, and thank you cards, which shouldn’t be missing!
Not to mention the other stationery such as menu cards, seating chart, name cards, a welcome sign, details such as tags for favors and yes…. even the sign for the emergency basket in the ladies room should not be missing! This requires some time for preparation.
We recommend that you make a list of all the stationery items you need and do everything in order.
Today we will give you the best tips on Save the Dates, invitations, thank you cards, and wedding favors.
Save the dates
If no other details have been finalized, this is a great opportunity to send Save the Date cards. There’s always time for formal invitation cards later on.
Save-the-Date cards are especially useful if the wedding is to take place in the summer months, such as during the vacation season. Without giving many details, the couple can tell the wedding guests the date of this special day, so they don’t make any other plans. Any other details about the wedding, such as time, location or dress code, can then be described later in the wedding invitation.
When to send Save the Date cards?
They should be sent out as soon as a date has been chosen and at least the location has been decided. Many great places for the wedding ceremony or the wedding party are often booked up far in advance, so the couple should rather play it safe and tell the wedding guests the date only when there is also a location. Even if the wedding is still more than a year away, the couple can send out the save-the-date cards.
Our tip: The earlier the better, because it’s all about the date.
What kind of text should be for the Save the Date cards?
You don’t have to write much at all. Because on the cards come only the wedding date and of course your names and your location. However, if you already have an idea as a wedding theme or are celebrating a themed wedding, you can base the Save the Date cards on that theme.
For example, if you are celebrating a vintage style wedding, it is a wonderful idea to choose vintage look Save the Date cards as well. A photo of the two of you can also be used to embellish the cards. Get inspired by the featured cards or design your very own personal Save the Date cards with the help of a designer like our friends @ Unique Moments.
If you don’t want to send save-the-date cards in advance, you should send out the wedding invitations as soon as the date, place, time, and dress code are set.
When to send out invitations?
The following applies: you should send out the invitations about 4-6 months before the wedding, so that your guests have enough time to plan (and in the case of a dress code) have enough time to find the right outfit.
If you have already sent save-the-date cards, you can take a little more time for the invitations, because then your guests will already know the most important things – the date. In this case, it is enough to send the invitations about 3-4 months before the wedding.
What kind of text should be in the invitation?
How you design your invitation to the wedding text is of course up to you – but a wedding slogan, poem, or a beautiful quote are always well received.
Surely there is a wedding quote that expresses exactly what you want to say. But also you can keep it with a very simple, “We would love to have you with us on this day”. The invitation is the perfect place to set the tone for your celebration. The messaging can clue your guests in as to whether your wedding will be more formal or casual.
Regardless of your style, the invitation should have the following information:
- Name of the couple
- Date, place, and time of the wedding ceremony and the celebration
- RSVP card and deadline by which each invitee should let you know if they are able to attend and how many will be in their party.
Optional information might include:
- Contact information
- Guest accommodations such a room block (if you have one) or nearby hotel options
- Gift wishes, or registry information.
- Dietary restrictions/allergy information that you can then share with the caterer
- Ask guests to share their favorite song and share that information with the DJ or band
Thank you cards
Your thank you cards should be sent no later than 3 months after the wedding. After all, everyone is excited to see a beautiful picture of the couple on a lovely card that they can hang on their refrigerator. It’s also a very nice way to thank your guests. After all, they helped make your wedding the most beautiful day of your life.
Your wedding will be unforgettable! The most beautiful day in your life! Among other things, your cheerful and happy guests, the most loved people in your life, will ensure that you want to thank your wedding guests with a small gift.
Whether creative, romantic, funny, or surprising – you will surely find the right wedding favor for your guests with someone like @Uniquemoments.
But it is important: The wedding favor should fit you and your wedding. A particularly extravagant wedding favor is not the right thing for a casual wedding. Just like a crazy wedding favor for guests won’t go over well with a very traditional wedding either. Just trust your gut and think about what you’d be most excited about if you were a guest at your own wedding (Which you should be, but that’s an entirely different blog).
