Bridal Accessories: Garters

On your wedding day, each and every detail should play its own key role. Even the accessories that are hidden under your wedding dress must meet the requirements and satisfy your preferences. Wedding garters help play a significant part when completing your stunning look on your wedding day. Just remember that your garter is yours, and it should match your style and complete your attire to a T. From vintage, lace, to all blinged out, there is a garter for every bride!

History

Traditionally, the garter toss takes place during the wedding reception. The groom removes the garter from the bride’s leg, sometimes with his hands or perhaps with his teeth, while a crowd watches. Following the bride’s bouquet toss, the groom tosses the garter to all of the eligible bachelors at the wedding. History used to say that the wedding guests would follow the couple to their bed and try to catch the garter as a sign of fertility. Today, the practice of removing the bride’s garter is traditionally reserved to the groom, who will then toss the garter to the unmarried male guests.
